Abstract

This research was conducted to know the role of human capital investment in
improving the quality of librarian in Diponegoro University Central Library. The
research method used is qualitative research. The data retrieval methods used are semi-structured interviews. The number of informant in this study was ten people, consisting of nine librarians and head of Diponegoro University Central Library.
This research uses thematic analysis in analyzing the data, and from the results of the analysis emerged four themes namely, knowledge enhancer, improved ability, health insurance, and motivation. Knowledge Enhancer is the result of the librarian from human capital investment activities followed. The librarians
acquire a variety of additional information, new skills after following human
capital investment activities, from the interviewees of the activity, or from the chat with the other participants. The second theme is increased capability, in this context, including improved performance, competence, organizational quality, librarian skills, and encouragement. From the human capital investment activities, the librarian has more skills that can be applied to better perform the library's work. In addition, librarians also experienced increased excitement because of human capital investment, such as gaining motivation and encouragement to quickly accomplish tasks that should be done, such as writing. The third theme is health insurance. Health insurance is one form of human capital investment that is applied by Diponegoro University Central Library. The last theme, namely the motivation of librarian in following the training activities as a form of human capital investment namely, collect credit figures, increase knowledge and insight, desire to fulfill information needs and provide services Best on the musicians. This research provides a new overview and knowledge about the role of human capial investment that is applied in a library.
Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui peran human capital investment dalam meningkatkan kualitas pustakawan di UPT Perpustakaan Undip. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif. Metode pengambilan data yang digunakan adalah wawancara semi terstruktur. Jumlah informan dalam penelitian ini sebanyak sepuluh orang, terdiri dari sembilan pustakawan dan Kepala UPT Perpustakaan Undip. Penelitian ini menggunakan thematic analysis dalam menganalisa data, dan dari hasil analisa tersebut muncul empat tema yaitu, penambah pengetahuan, peningkatan kemampuan, jaminan kesehatan, dan motivasi. Penambah pengetahuan merupakan hasil yang didapatkan pustakawan dari kegiatan human capital investment yang diikuti. Para pustakawan memperoleh berbagai informasi tambahan, keterampilan baru setelah mengikuti kegiatan human capital investment, dari narasumber kegiatan tersebut, atau dari obrolan dengan para peserta lain. Tema kedua yaitu peningkatan kemampuan, dalam konteks ini meliputi peningkatan kinerja, kompetensi, kualitas organisasi, keterampilan pustakawan, dan pemacu semangat. Dari kegiatan human capital investment tersebut, pustakawan memiliki keterampilan lebih yang dapat diterapkan untuk menjalankan tugas perpustakaan dengan lebih baik. Selain itu, pustakawan juga mengalami peningkatan semangat karena human capital investment, seperti mendapat motivasi dan semangat untuk segera menyelesaikan tugas-tugas yang memang harus dilakukan, seperti menulis. Tema ketiga adalah jaminan kesehatan. Jaminan kesehatan merupakan salah satu bentuk human capital investment yang diterapkan oleh UPT Perpustakaan Undip. Tema terakhir, yaitu motivasi pustakawan dalam mengikuti kegiatan pelatihan sebagai bentuk human capital investment yaitu, mengumpulkan angka kredit, menambah pengetahuan dan wawasan, keinginan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi serta memberikan layanan terbaik pada pemustaka. Penelitian ini memberikan gambaran dan pengetahuan baru mengenai peran human capial investment yang diterapkan di sebuah perpustakaan.
