Grief or loss is one of the emotions that is often experienced in life, so it is natural for someone to feel sad, the form of feeling sad can be defined in various ways and each person experiences a different intensity of grief depending on the factors that influence it.Manga Jumyou Wo Kaitote moratta Ichinen Ni Tsuki, Ichimanen De by Miaki Sugaru shows us when a person experiences grief or loss. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to analyze the stages of grief that the main character goes through and his efforts to overcome his sadness.

This study used a descriptive qualitative method and literature study. The theory used to analyze is Robin E. Brener's manga visual symbol and literary psychology approach with Elisabeth Kübler-Ross's five stages of grief theory.

The results of the study reveal the narrative of grief experienced by the Kusunoki character which is revealed from the actions, attitudes, words, and thoughts of the characters and is reflected in all five stages of grief from denial, anger, depression, bargaining to acceptance.
