Abstract

East Nusa Tenggara Province consists of several islands separated by the ocean and
is divided into 21 districts and 1 city. Of the 22 districts/cities, they are divided into
309 sub-districts and 3,353 villages/sub-districts. This province is the main producer
of beef cattle in Indonesia, with a population of 936,611 spread across various
districts/cities. South Central Timor Regency has a population of 164,990, consisting
of 161,990 beef cattle and 2,820 dairy cattle. Meanwhile, East Flores Regency has the
lowest population, namely 1,939 heads. Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara as a cattle barn
but in transportation still uses old model livestock ships so that it takes a long time
and costs are quite high. The purpose of this study. The purpose of this livestock
transportation industry, by using folding animal containers to increasase animal
efficiency and safety. Method used is using a mix method, namely a descriptive method
with state preference to see whether users of sea transportation services will choose
the old transportation model or the new transportation model. Quantitative method to
analyze the logit model. Data collection used in this study includes primary data and
secondary data, which are obtained using the Total cost per cow method of IDR
7,310,000 / trip / head for special cattle ships (cargo ships) while for container ships
that can accommodate folding containers IDR 2,146,000 / trip / head. The contribution
in this dissertation research is expected that the community can utilize animal folding
container ship transportation services more effectively, increase efficiency in the
logistics process, and support economic development and environmental sustainability
in the Kupang and Surabaya areas.
