Abstract
The low level of understanding among urban communities regarding the concept of permaculture and household waste management was the basis for conducting this study. To address this issue, four educational videos were produced and aired on the KebunQita YouTube channel with themes covering the basics of permaculture, plant selection and care, organic waste management, and the use of inorganic waste to make pots. A survey of 108 respondents showed a 27.8% increase in audience understanding after watching the entire video series. This figure exceeded the minimum target of 20% set as a measure of success, so it can be concluded that the research objectives were achieved. Analysis of social media interactions also showed that the permaculture introduction video received the highest number of views, while the most interactions in the form of comments and likes were found on practical and creative tutorial content, particularly videos on plant care and the use of inorganic waste as pots. The viewing pattern shows fluctuations, with a tendency for audiences to be more interested in content that is simple, applicable, and presents something new compared to general topics such as composting. Thus, this study proves that the production of educational videos through the YouTube platform is not only able to increase public knowledge but is also effective in encouraging audience engagement through digital interaction. Content packaged in the form of practical and innovative tutorials has proven to be the most popular and has the greatest potential to strengthen the understanding of urban audiences regarding permaculture-based urban farming practices.
