Abstract
This research aims to develop learning media in the form of English conversation videos designed to help students, especially the Applied Foreign Language Study Program, in understanding guest service practices at the hotel Front Office. The method used is Research and Development (R&D) which refers to the Borg and Gall model, with several stages adapted based on the limited time and scope of the research. The development process includes information gathering, planning, initial product development, limited trial, revision, main trial, and final revision. The final products of this research are learning videos with a duration of 10 minutes, which contain conversational dialog in guest service situations such as greeting, checking in, handling complaints, and providing information. The videos were developed through pre-production, production, and post-production stages by considering aspects such as script writing, shooting, editing, and adding subtitles. Validation from media experts and material experts as well as the results of the trial to students show that the developed video meets the eligibility criteria in terms of content, appearance, and effectiveness in supporting the Self-Directed Learning process. The results of this study are supported by multimedia learning theory (Mayer), contextual learning (Situated Learning), and the Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) approach which emphasizes real context-based learning.
