Abstract

Hospital waste generated is very diverse, including medical and non-medical waste that has the potential to cause impacts on health and the environment if not managed properly. This study aims to analyze waste generation and composition, technical aspects of waste management, and evaluate existing conditions with reference to applicable regulations, namely the Minister of Health Regulation (Permenkes) and Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The research method uses qualitative and quantitative descriptive methods, obtained from direct observation, interviews, and data analysis. The results showed that the waste generation produced by RSUD Kota Salatiga was quite significant, with an average of 20.081 tons/month, with the largest waste composition being organic waste (40%), followed by diaper waste (19%). Technical aspects include storage, collection, sorting, transportation, storage, and processing. Based on the analysis of waste management at RSUD Kota Salatiga, there are several inconsistencies with Permenkes and SNI, such as waste sorting still involving mixing of medical and non-medical waste, waste transportation not having a special route, and lack of socialization related to waste management such as inconsistent use of PPE by cleaning staff. Improvements are needed in several technical aspects to improve the quality of hospital waste management in accordance with applicable regulations.
