Abstract

Career adaptability is an important resource for vocational high school (SMK) students who decide to enter the workforce immediately after graduation. To possess good career adaptability, students need to be able to make good decisions, and this ability is influenced by the meaning in life they hold. This research aims to empirically examine the relationship between meaning in life and career adaptability among 12th-grade students at SMK Sumpah Pemuda 2 Kabupaten Bogor. This research uses a quantitative correlational method with a population consisting of 166 12th-grade students of SMK Sumpah Pemuda 2 Kabupaten Bogor, aged 17-20 years. The sample was taken using a cluster random sampling technique, consisting of 115 students (39.1% female, mean age = 17.97 years, age SD = 0.681). Data collection was conducted using the Meaning in Life Scale (α=0.902) and the Career Adaptability Scale (α=0.895). Hypothesis testing was conducted using simple regression analysis, resulting in a correlation coefficient R of 0.542 (p<0.001). This can be interpreted as the research hypothesis being accepted, indicating a significant positive relationship between meaning in life and career adaptability among 12th-grade students of SMK Sumpah Pemuda 2 Kabupaten Bogor. Meaning in life contributes effectively by 29.8% to career adaptability as indicated by R2=0.298, while the remaining 70.2% is influenced by other factors not examined in this study.
