Abstract

ABSTRACT
Democracy in Morocco is a path deeply intertwined with its historical heritage, its cultural diversity, and its economic conditions. This attempts to search for the interaction between these elements in shaping the political landscape and to focus on Morocco’s pivotal position as a channel linking Europe to Africa. This unique position fosters cultural exchange and geopolitical engagement, steering Morocco on a path to democratic and economic solidity amidst modern-day hurdles.
The nation’s political evolution is deeply influenced by its citizens’ engagement and the increasing political presence of women, signaling a shift towards more democratic and representative governance. The research underscores the transformative power of economic reforms and media in nurturing democratic principles.
A qualitative approach, blending empirical data with theoretical analysis, examines Morocco’s economic underpinnings and their impact on political transparency. Economic shifts are identified as either driving forces or barriers in the democratic transition. The study stresses the need for inclusive dialogue and timely political reforms to bridge economic gaps and meet political challenges, aiming for a consensus that fosters a just Moroccan civil state, upholding fundamental rights and freedoms.
The thesis outlines two potential futures for Morocco’s political landscape: maintaining the current trajectory or undergoing significant change in response to the populace’s aspirations, thereby avoiding outcomes similar to the Arab Spring or other upheavals. This scholarly work enriches the discourse on Morocco’s democratic shift and offers insights for those seeking to balance economic imperatives with political liberties.
