Abstract

This research aims to determine the role of the library Service Hall Grhatama Pustaka Special Region of Yogyakarta in realizing the public space for the blind.
The type of research used in this study is qualitative. Data collected through interviews and analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Analysis results show 4 (four)
themes that provide access to information, provision of infrastructure, organizing activities and performance of the librarian. Provision of information access and infrastructure provision for the blind is a key factor of the library Grhatama Pustaka can be used as a public space for the blind, providing access to information is also a factor in the emergence of other themes. The provision of information access by Grhatama Pustaka provides braille services equipped with Braille books and speech computers equipped with a screen reader program to facilitate visually impaired get information. The provision of infrastructure consists of the means of pickup bus, traveling library, provision of assistance staff and a comfortable place to do the discussion. Furthermore, the theme of organizing the activities of conducting several activities with the blind musicians consist of story telling activities and conducting discussions with the foundation that co-operates. Next, a librarian's performance theme, the Librarian of Grhatama Pustaka, has provided a good service to the visually impaired librarian in particular the Braille service section.
