Abstract
Personality development can occur in anyone and for any reason. This process takes
place and takes shape when an individual experiences events that prompt them to
change their own attitudes. This thesis, titled Personality Development of Mr. Fox
as Portrayed in Roald Dahl’s Fantastic Mr. Fox (1970), analyzes the main
character of the narrative, Fantastic Mr. Fox, who undergoes personality changes
throughout the story. This thesis employs Hurlock’s theory of personality
development and uses library research method to help analyze Mr. Fox’s
personality development. Mr. Fox undergoes healthy personality development,
meaning it is gradual and lacks drastic changes, even while facing life-threatening
situations. The changes Mr. Fox has experienced come from his own motivation
and support from his family. Additionally, this change is also perceived by the
characters around him. Thus, Mr. Fox’s personality truly develops.
