Abstract

Amy, Shakira. 2026. “Penggunaan Sufiks –teki (的), –ka (化), and –sei (性)
dalam Bahasa Jepang”. Thesis. Department of Japanese Language and Culture,
Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University, Semarang. The advisor: Elizabeth
Ika Hesti A.N.R., S.S., M.Hum.
This research aims to identify the characteristics of vocabulary that can be
followed by the suffixes –teki (的), –ka (化), and –sei (性) and to examine the
productivity of each suffix in forming new words in Japanese.
This research uses the observation method by examining various data
sources, namely Prefiks dan Sufiks dalam Bahasa Jepang (Seri Renik Bahasa) by
Timothy J. Vance, the Japanese dictionary application Takoboto, the online
Japanese dictionary website Jisho.org, and Ejje Weblio. The collected data were
recorded and analyzed using the Immediate Constituent Analysis technique by
grouping the data based on the suffix attached to each word. The results of the
analysis are presented descriptively in the form of explanations, tables, and
diagrams to make them easier to understand.
The results show that the suffixes –teki (的), –ka (化), and –sei (性) share a
tendency to attach mainly to nouns, especially words of Sino-Japanese origin
(kango), but each suffix has a different function and meaning. The suffix –teki (的)
is used to express a characteristic or quality related to the base word, –ka (化)
indicates a process of change or transformation according to the meaning of the
base word, and –sei (性) expresses an inherent quality, characteristic, or state of
the base word. In terms of productivity, –teki (的) is the most flexible suffix because
it can attach to a wide variety of concepts, while –ka (化) and –sei (性) are more
restricted and depend on the semantic characteristics of the base word.
