Abstract
This research objective is the parenting style of Carol Last, one of the parent figures in a novel written by Alice Oseman titled Radio Silence. This research intends to analyze the parenting style of Carol Last and its impact towards her twin children, Aled Last and Carys Last. This study utilizes Diana Baumrind’s parenting styles theory as the base theory of the research. This research is fulfilled as qualitative research that uses psychological approach to view characters present in the novel as a reflection of human beings. In collecting the data, this research uses the library research method. The discussion of this research shows that Carol Last’s parenting resembles the authoritarian parenting style. It is also evident that Carol Last’s authoritarian parenting style has an impact on her twin children’s behavior. Aled Last develops fearfulness, anxiety, and self-repressing behavior. On the other hand, Carys Last shows anger, aggression, and rebellious behavior towards others.
