Abstract

Praise to the presence of Allah SWT who has given Its mercy and guidance
so that the author can complete enabling the completion of the thesis entitled
"Isolation and Molecular Characterization of Thraustochytrids from Different
Water Samples and Decayed Mangrove Leaf in Kuala Terengganu"
Thraustochytrids, classified as a marine group of eukaryotic protists and belonging
to the larger group Labyrinthulomycetes, abundantly exist as single-celled
organisms in marine ecosystems. These mono-centric protists have garnered
attention for their unique ultrastructure and biochemical traits.
This research aims to understand variations in Thraustochytrid presence and
investigate their genetic diversity in water samples collected from various locations
within the local marine environment. The approach involves isolation techniques
and molecular analyses to unravel the distinctive characteristics of Thraustochytrids
in these diverse aquatic environments. The author acknowledges the imperfections
present in this thesis, encompassing material content, writing structure, and
language usage. Therefore, all suggestions and improvements for this thesis are
warmly welcomed. It is hoped that this thesis proves beneficial for readers in
general and, specifically, for the author
