Abstract
Homosexuality is a sexual orientation that refers to men who are attracted to or form relationships with other men, and in the 1940s USA, society widely rejected it, viewing it as taboo and even a criminal act. Kill Your Darlings (2013) is an American biographical drama movie written by Austin Bunn and directed by John Krokidas, which portrays Allen Ginsberg and Lucien Carr as reflections of the 1940s stigma toward homosexuality and how social environment influences Allen. This research uses a qualitative approach with a sociological perspective. The
method of data collection was taken from the dialogue in Kill Your Darlings (2013) through repeated viewing movie and script analysis, with additional support from secondary sources. The research finds that Allen struggles with confusion and rejection before achieving self-acceptance, while Lucien shows denial shaped by fear and trauma. It also find that the Beat Generation
plays a significant role in influencing Allen’s freedom. The study concludes that Allen and Lucien's have differences struggles in their homosexuality, and that the Beat Generation influences Allen’s freedom.
