Abstract
This research thesis studies American parenting style that highlights the family dynamics of Amanda and Heather’s family in Double Daddy (2015) movie. This research thesis aims to reveal the characteristics, types, and relations of parenting
style adopted by Amanda and Heather’s family in Double Daddy (2015) movie. In writing this research thesis, the writer utilizes sociological approach, by employing American parenting style theory and content analysis as the method of data
collection. The data of this research thesis is taken from Lee Friedlander’s Double Daddy (2015) movie. The intrinsic discussion of this research thesis comprises the
characters and characterization, setting, and conflicts of both Amanda and Heather’s family. Meanwhile, the extrinsic discussion includes the characteristics, types, and relations of American parenting style adopted by Amanda and Heather’s
family. It is revealed that Amanda’s parents adopt authoritative parenting style and perform equally high demandingness and responsiveness. On the other hand, Heather’s father adopts neglectful parenting, with both low demandingness and
responsiveness.
