Abstract
This research thesis discusses about archetypes of the main female character in the novel entitled Let Me Lie written by Clare Mackintosh. The objectives of this thesis are to analyze the archetypes depicted in the main female character, to describe
what factors that shape the archetypes of the main female character, and to know the main female character’s acceptance of the archetypes that lead her to individuation. Psychological literature approach and the archetype theory by Carl
Jung are used to achieve the objectives of the study. As for the method of collecting data, the writer uses primary data, which is Clare Mackintosh’s novel entitled Let Me Lie, and secondary data, such as sources that are taken from library, website
article, and other sources, through a library research method. The result of this thesis discusses the intrinsic and the extrinsic elements of the novel. The intrinsic discussion covers characters and characterizations, settings, and conflicts. Meanwhile, the extrinsic discussion covers Anna’s archetypes, the factors that
shape Anna’s archetypes, and Anna’s individuation.
