Abstract

Intensitas konsumsi energi di sektor industri Indonesia tergolong tinggi dan belum efisien, menjadi tantangan serius dalam upaya konservasi energi nasional. Penelitian ini bertujuan secara spesifik untuk mengevaluasi efisiensi energi di Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Air (PLTA) melalui penerapan simultan dua pendekatan yakni audit energi dan benchmarking energi, sebuah metode yang belum banyak diterapkan dalam studi sebelumnya, khususnya di sektor pembangkit listrik. Penelitian dilakukan di PLTA Wadaslintang, dengan perhitungan intensitas energi, menganalisis konsumsi energi pada peralatan utama dan pendukung melalui identifikasi Significant Energy Use (SEU) dan benchmarking secara nasional dan dunia. Data menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi internal Pemakaian Sendiri (PS) murni hanya sebesar 5,68%, sementara 94,32% merupakan losses pada sistem elektrikal. Hasil benchmarking menunjukkan intensitas energi sebesar 0,001114075 GJ/GJ, yang menempatkan PLTA Wadaslintang pada kuartil 25% nasional dan menjadi pembangkit paling efisien dalam benchmark skala dunia. Rekomendasi teknis dari penelitian ini menghasilkan potensi penghematan sebesar 955.808,38 kWh/tahun atau setara 40,2% dari PS, menurunkan PS dari 2,20% menjadi 1,02%, serta meningkatkan Net Capacity Factor (NCF) sebesar 0,61%. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa kombinasi audit energi dan benchmarking dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam peningkatan efisiensi energi.

The intensity of energy consumption in the Indonesian industrial sector is relatively high and inefficient, becoming a serious challenge in national energy conservation efforts. This study aims specifically to evaluate energy efficiency in Hydroelectric Power Plants (PLTA) through the simultaneous application of two approaches, namely energy audit and energy benchmarking, a method that has not been widely applied in previous studies, especially in the power generation sector. The study was conducted at the Wadaslintang PLTA, with energy intensity calculations, analyzing energy consumption on main and supporting equipment through the identification of Significant Energy Use (SEU) and benchmarking nationally and globally. The data shows that the internal consumption of pure Self-Use (PS) is only 5.68%, while 94.32% is losses in the electrical system. The benchmarking results show an energy intensity of 0.001114075 GJ/GJ, which places the Wadaslintang PLTA in the 25% national quartile and is the most efficient power plant in the world-scale benchmark. The technical recommendations from this study resulted in a potential saving of 955,808.38 kWh/year or equivalent to 40.2% of PS, reducing PS from 2.20% to 1.02%, and increasing the Net Capacity Factor (NCF) by 0.61%. This study shows that the combination of energy audits and benchmarking can be an effective strategy in improving energy efficiency.
