Komparatif ", Thesis, Japanese Language and Culture, Faculty of Cultural
Sciences, Diponegoro University. Advisor: Dian Annisa Nur Ridha, S.S., M.A.
This research discusses the intrinsic elements of the novel Sekai kara Neko ga Kieta
nara and the process of adaptation into a film. The purpose of this study is to
describe the intrinsic elements of the novel and the process of adaptation into a film.
This research uses Burhan Nurgiyantoro's structural fiction theory and Pamusuk
Eneste's ekranization theory. The methods used are comparative and structural
methods. The results of the analysis of the intrinsic elements of the novel include
theme and mandate, character and characterization, setting, plot, and point of view.
The process of ecranization in the film includes shrinking the setting and plot,
adding to the plot, and varying changes in characters and characterizations, setting,
and plot. Of the three aspects analyzed, it was found that the varied changes in the
plot became the most prominent aspect. From this study, it can be concluded that
the ecranization process carried out includes faithful ecranization.
Keywords: ecranization, film, novel, comparative literature, Sekai kara Neko ga
