Abstract
This study discusses the use of aircraft registration codes and nationality marks as regulated in Annex 7 ICAO. This study aims to explain the legal consequences that arise if there is a violation of the rules that have been set. It is mandatory for all civil aircraft to be officially registered and have nationality marks and registrations in accordance with ICAO standards. The identification system that has been set by ICAO plays a very important role in preventing registration, illegal operations, and violations of airspace sovereignty and making it easier to track and identify aircraft in the event of an accident or act of terrorism. By using normative legal methods (doctrinal) and a statutory and case approach, this study analyzes both primary and secondary legal sources as well as ICAO standards, international and national aviation law, and related international agreements. The main case study is a violation of a foreign aircraft serving a domestic route without valid registration, this violation occurred in Indonesia where this action has violated Annex 7 ICAO and violated the laws of the country where the violation occurred. Compliance with the standards that have been set needs to be emphasized in order to ensure safety, security, and accountability in flight. With this research, it is expected to provide both theoretical and practical contributions in understanding and implementing ICAO regulations on aircraft registration codes and nationality for safe and orderly international flights.
