Abstract
This study analyzes the market reaction to the announcement of the 2024 Indonesian
Presidential Election results, focusing on the abnormal return and trading volume
activity (TVA) of nickel mining companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange
(IDX). Using an event study approach, the research observes an event window of 10
days before and after the announcement on March 20, 2024. A sample of 8 actively
traded nickel-related companies was analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk, paired sample ttest, and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a 5% significance level. The results show
that abnormal return did not experience a significant difference before and after the
announcement, indicating a limited price reaction. However, TVA significantly
increased, particularly during the first five days following the announcement, reflecting
heightened investor activity and short-term speculation.
