Abstract
Movie as part of literature representing the reality can be a media to deliver
messages to the people, for instance "Imperfect: Karier, Cinta, dan Timbangan"
movie by Ernest Prakasa. The movie holds various speech in form of bullying which
tend to body shaming. The objectives of this study are describing illocution speech
act which holds bullying expression, speech form of bullying and the background
of bullying in "Imperfect: Karier, Cinta, dan Timbangan" movie. This study
conducts qualitative approach. The theory applies in this study is Searle's
pragmatic illocution speech act. The data is secondary data which obtained from
the dialogue speech that holds bullying form. The method used for collecting the
data is observation with a note-taking technique. To analyze the data used identity
method and the distributional method. The result of this study shows that (1) there
are three kinds of illocution speech act include assertive speech act "complaining"
and "asserting", declarative speech act "recommending", "requesting", "advising",
"demanding", "commanding" and expressive speech act "teasing" and "mocking;
(2) speech form of bullying consist of declarative, introgative, and imperative; and
(3) the background of bullying speech is influenced by the beauty standards
approved by society who have an ideal body shape and a social environment where
people who live in slums get bullied because of differences in quality of life.
