Abstract

This study aims to determine the types and functions of illocutionary speech
acts contained in the song lyrics in the album "Akibat Pergaulan Blues" by Jason
Ranti. The theory used is pragmatic theory. The data collection method used is the
listening method and the note-taking technique. The listening method used is
Listening Free Libat Cakap (SBLC) because researchers only need to listen to the
lyrics contained in the song on the album "Akibat Pergaulan Blues" by Jason Ranti
with a note-taking technique. The data analysis method used the pagmatic sub-type
matching method with the pragmatic sorting element (PUP) technique. While the
results of data analysis will be presented in an informal way.
Based on the results of this study found four types of illocutionary speech
acts, namely: assertive, expressive, directive, and declarative. Then there are
thirteen functions of illocutionary speech acts, namely the function of informing,
the function of stating, the function of realizing, the function of expressing feelings,
the function of complaining, the function of admiring, the function of blaming, the
function of worrying, the function of suggesting, the function of commanding, the
function of expecting, the function of praying, the function of making decision. The
most dominant type is the type of assertive speech act with 13 data, and the most
dominant function is the informing function with 9 data. These types and functions
were found from 32 data in the lyrics of the album “Akibat Pergaulan Blues” by
Jason Ranti. There are four topics that became the background for the creation of
the lyrics of this song, namely: criticism of the phenomena of persecution, racism,
and hate speech; criticism of beauty standards and trends; criticism of the issue of
communism in Indonesia; and the struggle of women to achieve their goals.
