Abstract
Salsabila Qutrunada. 2024. “Representation of Child Grooming in Anime A
Girl and Her Guard Dog by Yoshihiro Takamoto (Sociology of Literature Study)”.
Thesis Japanese Language and Culture Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences,
Diponegoro University, Semarang.
This research is a literature study. The purpose of this research is to describe
the narrative structure of the anime A Girl and Her Guard Dog and the
representation of child grooming contained in the anime. The formal object of this
research is the series A Girl and Her Guard Dog by Yoshihiro Takamoto, while the
material object of this research is the representation of child grooming. The theories
used in this research are Himawan Pratista's narrative structure theory and Stuart
Hall's representation theory.
The result of this research is the representation of child grooming done by Uto
Keiya as the perpetrator and Isaku Senagaki as the victim. This was found from the 5
points of child grooming strategies out of 7 points of child grooming strategies, that
Uto Keiya did. This was also illustrated from the scenes and dialog in the anime. Uto
Keiya manages to carry out this action without the knowledge of the people around
him and ends up having a relationship with the main character who is still underage.
