Abstract

Minardi, Hizkia Nathalia. 2024. “Forms of Female Struggle (Otono Tachibana
Makie) in Anime Mugen No Juunin Director Hamasaki Hiroshi's Creation
(Feminism Study)”. Thesis, Department of Japanese Language and Culture,
Diponegoro University, Semarang. Supervisor Yuliani Rahmah, S.Pd., M.Hum.
This research is titled. “Forms of Female Struggle (Otono Tachibana Makie) in
Anime Mugen No Juunin Director Hamasaki Hiroshi's Creation (Feminism Study)”.
The purpose of this study is to determine the forms of struggle of the character
Otono Tachibana Makie in the anime Mugen No Juunin. The author uses the
research method of literary sociology with the theory of Himawan Pratista's film
narrative structure and liberal feminism as an analytical framework and is
presented descriptively qualitatively. The results of the analysis show that there is
a form of women's struggle in the character of Otono Tachibana Makie in the form
of women working and rejecting their innocence due to the presence of gender
injustice which includes marginalization, subordination, stereotypes and violence
both verbal and nonverbal. Thus, it can be concluded that the character Otono
Tachibana Makie managed to fight for her freedom as a woman in the Edo period
which was still closely related to patriarchal culture despite receiving various kinds
of gender injustice from society.
Keywords: Women, Japan, Liberal Feminism, Gender Injustice, Mugen No Juunin,
Edo.
