Abstract
PLTU paiton unit 8 merupakan pembangkit listrik swasta atau di kenal dengan Independent power plant (IPP) yang didesain untuk beoperasi pada beban tetap (base load) dengan tekanan uap dari boiler tetap (constant pressure) . seiring dengan kebutuhan energi listrik PLN maka PLTU unit 8 harus beroperasi pada beban parsial. Akibat dari operasi beban parsial ini maka terjadi inefisiensi pembangkit yang disebabkan oleh adanya kenaikan throttle loss terutama saat beban minimum yang menyebabkan turunnya efisiensi high pressure turbine. Pola operasi sliding pressure adalah pola pengoperasian pembangkit dengan memvariasikan tekanan uap boiler mengikuti beban operasi. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pola operasi sliding pressure terhadap efisiensi pembangkit terutama saat beban minimum dibandingkan dengan pola operasi constant pressure. Program simulasi komputer Virtual Plant digunakan untuk memodelkan heat & mass balance dari pembangkit listrik tenaga uap yang kemudian digunakan untuk mensimulasikan proses operasi pembangkit listrik dengan berbagai variable tekanan uap selanjutnya berdasarkan hasil optimum dari simulasi akan di ujicobakan secara langsung ke pembangkit dan di lakukan Analisa performannya. Hasil dari penelitian menujukkan pola operasi sliding pressure mampu meningkatkan HP turbine efficiency sebesar 4,08% dan memperbaiki NPHR sebesar 102,96 kcal/kwh pada rendah (350 NMW). Dari perbaikan nilai NPHR sebesar 102,96 kcal/kwh maka potensi penghematan batu bara dalam satu tahun adalah sebesar 31.606,5 ton atau senilai Rp. 34.364.736.042,-, dan potensi penurunan emisi karbon CO2e adalah senilai 5.077.878 ton CO2e atau jika di konversi ke pajak karbon nilainya setara dengan Rp.152.336.350.675,- per tahun.

Paiton Unit 8 Power Plant is an independent power producer (IPP) designed to operate at a constant load (base load) with a fixed boiler steam pressure (constant pressure). However, in response to the electricity demand of PLN, the plant must operate under partial load conditions. This partial load operation results in inefficiencies, primarily due to increased throttle loss, especially at minimum load, which reduces the efficiency of the high-pressure turbine. Sliding pressure operation is a method that varies boiler steam pressure based on the operational load. This study aims to analyse the impact of sliding pressure operation on plant efficiency, particularly at minimum load, compared to constant pressure operation. A Virtual Plant simulation program was utilized to model the heat and mass balance of the coal-fired power plant, simulating operational processes under various steam pressure variables. The optimal simulation results were then tested directly on the plant, and its performance was analysed .The results indicate that sliding pressure operation improves high-pressure turbine efficiency by 4.08% and reduces the Net Plant Heat Rate (NPHR) by 102.96 kcal/kWh at low load (350 NMW). This improvement in NPHR translates into a potential annual coal savings of 31,606.5 tons, equivalent to IDR 34,364,736,042. Additionally, the potential reduction in CO2e emissions amounts to 5,077,878 tons annually, equivalent to a carbon tax value of IDR 152,336,350,675 per year.
