Abstract

This study examines the influence of compensation on employee performance
through work stress as an intervening variable. Compensation plays a crucial role
in employee motivation and retention, while work stress, at a reasonable level, can
be a driving factor that enhances focus, resilience, and employee productivity. This
research is based on Compensation Theory, Work Stress Theory, and Employee
Performance Theory. The study employs a quantitative approach with primary data
collected from employees and secondary data from relevant literature. Data analysis
was conducted using SmartPLS to test the relationships between variables. The
findings of this research are expected to provide theoretical contributions by
enhancing the understanding of human resource management, particularly in the
aspects of compensation and work stress, as well as practical contributions for
organizations in designing effective compensation strategies to improve employee
performance. This study is limited by the time constraints in data collection and
analysis, which may restrict the scope of the examined variables.
