Abstract
Self-efficacy is an individual's belief in their ability to complete tasks, face challenges, achieve goals, and demonstrate specific skills. Parent-child interpersonal communication plays a role in enhancing self-efficacy. Parent-child interpersonal communication refers to a child's perception of communication with their parents, characterized by openness, honesty, and a sense of being heard, accepted, understood, and valued. This study aims to examine the relationship between parent-child interpersonal communication and the level of self-efficacy among midwifery students at the Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, Semarang. The research population consists of 418 midwifery students at the Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, Semarang. The sample, obtained using the convenience sampling technique, consists of 204 subjects. Data collection was conducted using psychological scales developed by the researcher, namely the Self-Efficacy Scale (31 items, α = 0.900) and the Parent-Child Interpersonal Communication Scale (50 items, α = 0.957). Simple regression analysis using the JASP application showed a correlation coefficient of 0.546 with a significance value of p < 0.001. This means that the hypothesis proposed in this study is accepted. The higher the level of parent-child interpersonal communication, the higher the level of self-efficacy. Conversely, the lower the level of parent-child interpersonal communication, the lower the self-efficacy of midwifery students at the Health Polytechnic, Ministry of Health, Semarang.
