Abstract
High school students, especially 12th grade students, are required to be able to make career decisions. Students often find it difficult to make career decisions due to lack of self efficacy in making career decisions independently. One factor that can increase career decision self-efficacy is social support. This study aims to determine the relationship between social support and career decisions self-efficacy in 12th grade students of Kebakkramat State Senior High School in Karanganyar Regency. Social support is the individual’s subjective assessment of the adequacy of support or assistance received from family, friends and significant others. Career decision self-efficacy is self-confidance in one’s ability to successfully complete tasks related to making career decisions. The population in this study consist of 356 12th grade students from Kebakkramat State Senior High School. The subjects of this study were 201 students (29.85% male and 70.15% female). Data were collected using the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS) (12 valid items; α = 0.908) and the Career Decision Making Self-Efficacy Scale- Short Form (CDMSES-SF) (23 valid items; α = 0.889). Spearmans’s Rho correlation test showed a significant positive relationship between social support and career decision sel-efficacy in 12th grade students of Kebakkramat State High School (r = 0.41; p = < 0.001). The higher the social support perceived by students, the higher the student’s career decision self-efficacy.
