Abstract

This study examines the relationship between perceived organizational support and the work performance of private school teachers in Kesambi District, Cirebon City. “Creating human resources with competitive, cultured, and excellent quality,” one of which is in the field of education, is the mission of Cirebon City. Teachers are a vital component of educational institutions, both public and private. The success and quality of education in schools depend strongly on the teachers’ performance. However, there remains a gap in quality between public and private school teachers in Cirebon City. Work performance is defined as employees’ behavior in achieving organizational goals, while perceived organizational support is defined as individuals’ subjective assessment that the organization values them and cares about their well-being. This research involved 243 participants selected using a cluster random sampling technique. Data were collected using two psychological instruments: the POS scale (31 valid items, α = 0.94) and the IWPQ-18 scale (5 items of TP (α = 0.91), 8 items of CP (α = 0.93), and 5 items of CWB (α = 0.86)). The correlation analysis technique shows a significant positive relationship between perceived organizational support and work performance (r = +0.45, p < .001). The hypothesis that there is a positive relationship between perceived organizational support and the work performance of private school teachers in Kesambi District, Cirebon City, is accepted. The higher the perceived organizational support, the higher the teachers’ work performance will be. Conversely, the lower the perceived organizational support, the lower the teachers’ work performance.
