Abstract
This study aims to examine the effect of financial incentive policy and convenience
policy on the intention of citizens in Jakarta to adopt electric vehicles with attitudes
towards electric vehicles as a mediating variable. Using the Theory of Planned
Behavior framework, this study evaluates the direct and indirect relationships
between government policy and citizens' attitude toward adopting sustainable
technology. Data were collected through an online survey with a sample of 100
respondents selected using probability sampling techniques. Data were analyzed
using the Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) method.
The results showed that financial incentive policy significantly influenced attitudes
(t = 4.511, p = 0.000) and EV adoption intentions (t = 3.544, p = 0.000), both
directly and through the mediation of attitudes towards EVs (t = 2.614, p = 0.005).
Convenience policy also has a significant effect on attitude (t = 3.566, p = 0.000)
and intention to adopt EVs (t = 3.040, p = 0.001), both directly and through the
mediation of attitude toward EVs (t = 3.320, p = 0.000). In addition, a positive
attitude toward EVs is proven to significantly influence citizens' intention to adopt
electric vehicles (t = 4.436, p = 0.000). The conclusion of this study confirms that
financial incentive and convenience policy play an essential role in encouraging
the adoption of electric vehicles, both directly and through the mediation of attitude
toward electric vehicles. Practical implications of this study include
recommendations for the government to expand financial incentives and improve
electric vehicle facilities and infrastructure to accelerate the transition to more
environmentally friendly transportation in Jakarta.
