Abstract
ABSTRACT
The waste management conditions in Tawangsari and Weru Sub-districts, Sukoharjo Regency, are inadequate, with only 11.7% and 6.7% of waste transported to the Mojorejo Landfill, respectively. However, the Mojorejo Landfill has already reached 87.29% of its total capacity as of 2023 and is projected to exceed capacity
within the next five years. Furthermore, the absence of Temporary Waste Collection Sites compels residents to dispose of waste through burning or burying without proper processing. Therefore, an improved waste management system is urgently needed to reduce the volume of waste sent to the landfill while accommodating an
increasing service area. This study aims to determine the most suitable organic waste processing method using the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) and to design an operational waste
management plan, including 3R Waste Processing Sites for both sub-districts. An analysis of waste generation, composition, and handling rates reveals that Tawangsari generates 0.35 kg/day or 2.67 liters/day of waste, 58% of which is food waste, while Weru generates 0.59 kg/day or 3.58 liters/day, with 77% food waste.
The results indicate that Windrow Composting is the optimal method, achieving a score of 0.57 in the AHP assessment. Implementing this method is projected to reduce waste by up to 69% at an estimated cost of Rp 381,001,553,064 by 2044.
Additionally, system dynamics modeling was utilized to simulate and optimize the waste management plan.
