Abstract

Penelitian ini menyelidiki dampak penurunan nilai kalori batubara terhadap efisiensi boiler dan biaya bahan bakar di PLTU Paiton Unit 3 di Probolinggo, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini berfokus pada efek penggunaan campuran batubara dengan nilai kalori lebih rendah terhadap kinerja operasional dan aspek ekonomi pembangkit. Metode penelitian melibatkan serangkaian uji pembakaran dengan variasi rasio campuran batubara untuk menentukan perubahan efisiensi dan konsumsi bahan bakar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada Net Plant Heat Rate (NPHR) dan Specific Fuel Consumption (SFC) seiring dengan penurunan nilai kalori. Temuan ini menyarankan bahwa meskipun penggunaan batubara dengan nilai kalori lebih rendah dapat mengurangi biaya bahan bakar, namun berdampak negatif pada efisiensi termal boiler. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan dengan rekomendasi untuk mengoptimalkan strategi pencampuran batubara guna menyeimbangkan penghematan biaya dan efisiensi operasional.

This reserach investigates the impact of the decrease in coal calorific value on boiler efficiency and fuel costs at Paiton Power Plant Unit 3 in Probolinggo, East Java. The study focuses on the effects of using lower calorific value coal blends on the operational performance and economic aspects of the plant. The research method involves a series of combustion tests with varying coal blend ratios to determine changes in efficiency and fuel consumption. The results indicate a significant increase in Net Plant Heat Rate (NPHR) and specific fuel consumption (SFC) as the calorific value decreases. The findings suggest that while the use of lower calorific value coal can reduce fuel costs, it negatively impacts the boiler's thermal efficiency. The study concludes with recommendations for optimizing coal blending strategies to balance cost savings and operational efficiency.
