Abstract

This research aims to develop a flashcards learning media entitled “Indonesian Folklore
Flashcards” for college students with B1 (Intermediate) English level that contains five
folklore stories, The Mystical Tale of Lake Toba, The Legend of Crying Stone, The
Legend of Salt Water in Yiwika, The Curse of Bandung Bondowoso, and The Legend of
Gua Mampu. this flashcard is expected to provide an enjoyable means of enhancing
proficiency in English and acquiring understanding about Indonesian culture.
Questionnaire and students feedback assessment were the methods employed for data
collection. The expert in the Applied Foreign Language English specialization identified
the validation of the final results trough the eight steps of R&D method. The content of
Indonesian Folklore Flashcard shows an average score of 3.3 obtained form the product
validation test, indicating the category “Agree” with the statements. The validation test
yielded a variety result for the media statements, with the category “Agree” specifying an
average score of 3.5. The final total score found from the questionnaires of the feasibility
product was revised for the Indonesian Folklore Flashcard. The results of the Applied
Foreign Language English students indicate that the Indonesian Folklore Flashcard
achieved a score of 3.5, placing it in the “Agree” category. It is classified as a product
suitable for enhancing language proficiency and cultivating understanding of Indonesian
culture, as well as instilling moral values in students’ daily lives. The feasibility of
Indonesian Folklore Flashcard product is demonstrated by the college students who were
interested upon the design, English text and audio recording of the mentioned story.
