Abstract
A region's economic and cultural development is significantly impacted by tourism. Semarang
City has a lot of potential to grow as a tourism destination because of its rich cultural and
historical legacy. However, to promote these tourist spots to a wider audience both domestic
and abroad innovative and captivating media are required. The purpose of this study is to create
a bilingual pop-up comic that Semarang City can use to promote tourism. The comic includes
stories in both Indonesian and English and has an attractive visual style due to the use of popup elements. In an attempt to attract tourists’ interest in visiting Semarang City, this pop-up
comic will focus on well-known tourist attractions and be provided with voice-over
information and location maps via QR codes. Research and Development (R&D) is the
research approach used to evaluate the media, material, and usability of the pop-up comic. A
total of 30 respondents are included in the Likert scale. According to the evaluation results,
every respondent gave the given aspects a "very good" rating. Based on this research, it can be
said that bilingual pop-up comic is an interactive promotional medium that is both visually
appealing and effective. It is intended that this pop-up comic can assist to increase Semarang
City's tourism allure on a national and international scale.
