Abstract

This study aims to examine the factors that affect the profitability of the
company. The independent variables in this study are own capital and loan capital.
While the dependent variable in this study is profitability with the Return on Equity
ratio. This study uses the Resource Based Theory (RBT) theory as a research
foundation where own capital and loan capital are company resources that have
the competitiveness of each company.
The object of this research is cyclical consumer sector companies listed on
the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2022, with a total sample of 30 companies.
The sampling method applied uses random sampling techniques so that 30
companies are obtained from a total of 142 companies. The sample calculation uses
the Slovin formula to determine the number of samples. The model of this research
uses multiple linear regression analysis methods. The statistical tool used in this
research is IBM SPSS 25.
The results of this study explain that own capital and loan capital have a
significant positive effect on profitability simultaneously. However, partially loan
capital has a negative effect on profitability. Own capital has a positive effect on
profitability partially. The existence of interest costs has a reduced net profit after
tax on the company.
