Abstract

This analysis discusses the practice of predatory pricing in the cement industry in Indonesia, which is considered an action that potentially violates business ethics and creates a monopoly. Predatory pricing is a strategy of setting prices below production costs to eliminate competitors and dominate the market. This practice harms competitors, consumers, and overall market dynamics because it can create unfair market dominance and reduce healthy competition. When competitors are driven out of the market, the company that employs predatory pricing can significantly raise prices, ultimately harming consumers. Law Number 5 of 1999 concerning the Prohibition of Monopolistic Practices and Unfair Business Competition becomes an important legal basis in regulating and prohibiting such practices in Indonesia. This research highlights the importance of effective law enforcement to prevent predatory pricing practices, as well as cooperation between the
government, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Additionally, clear regulations and consistent law enforcement are needed to create a fair and competitive business environment. This
is important to create a fair, innovative, and sustainable business environment, as well as to protect consumer interests and ensure healthy competition in the market. This study also recommends
education and socialization about the negative impacts of predatory pricing to raise awareness among business actors and the general public.
