Abstract
Migration is a common phenomenon in today's globalized world, but the process of adapting in a new country
is fraught with pitfalls such as language barriers, employment problems and cultural differences. This study,
entitled “Adaptation of Malagasy migrants in Indonesia”, explores the experiences and adaptation strategies
of Malagasy migrants in Indonesia. Despite a low migration rate in Madagascar, migration to Indonesia,
motivated mainly by educational opportunities and scholarships, began in the 1990s. This research uses
qualitative methods to understand the motivations, settlement patterns and integration processes of Malagasy
migrants. The study reveals that most Malagasy migrants come from urban areas, attracted by Indonesia's
affordable cost of living, stable academic environment and cultural similarities.
