(Mhevy Nadya Pasaribu. 26040119130113. Bioaktivitas Antibakteri Pigmen
Fukosantin
Sargassum polycystum C. Agardh terhadap Bakteri Patogen
Staphylococcus aureus dan Escherichia coli Rini Pramesti dan Sri Sedjati).
Pigmen fukosantin merupakan salah satu pigmen yang terdapat dari rumput laut
cokelat Sargassum polycystum yang kadarnya tertinggi dari pigmen lainnya. Pigmen
ini dapat digunakan sebagai sediaan bahan kosmetik dan obat – obatan. Dalam bidang
farmasi tanaman ini kaya akan senyawa bioaktif yang dapat digunakan sebagai anti
obesitas, anti-diabet, antiinflamasi serta antibakteri. Sampel diperoleh dari perairan
Pulau Panjang, Jepara. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui proses isolasi pigmen
fukosantin dan potensi antibakteri pigmen fukosantin S. polycystum. Identifikasi
fukosantin menggunakan metode kromatografi lapis tipis. Isolasi fukosantin dengan
metode kromatografi yaitu kromatografi kolom. Uji aktivitas antibakteri dengan
metode difusi cakram. Bakteri patogen yang digunakan S. aureus dan E. coli.
Konsentrasi ekstrak fukosantin sebagai sampel uji digunakan 150 µg/disk, 250 µg/disk
dan 500 µg/disk. Pengamatan zona hambat selama 24 jam, 48 jam dan 72 jam. Hasil
penelitian menunjukkan ekstrak pigmen fukosantin memiliki aktivitas antibakteri.
Rerata diameter zona hambat terbesar terdapat pada jam ke-24 terhadap patogen S.
aureus adalah 10,6 ± 0,057 mm dan zona hambat terbesar terdapat pada jam ke -24
pada patogen E. coli adalah 10,1 ± 0,014 mm. Hasil menunjukkan adanya aktivitas
antibakteri pigmen fukosantin berpotensi sebagai antibakteri.

Fucoxanthin Pigment Sargassum polycystum C. Agardh against Staphylococcus
aureus and Escherichia coli Pathogen Bacreria Rini Pramesti and Sri Sedjati).
Fucoxanthin pigment is one of the pigments found in the brown seaweed
Sargassum polycystum, which has the highest levels of other pigments. This pigment
can be used as a preparation for cosmetic ingredients and drugs. In the
pharmaceutical field, this plant is rich in bioactive compounds that can be used as
anti-obesity, anti-diabetic, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial. Samples were
obtained from the waters of Panjang Island, Jepara. The aim of this study was to
determine the process of isolating fucoxanthin pigment and the antibacterial potential
of S. polycystum fucoxanthin pigment. Identification of fucoxanthin using thin layer
chromatography method. Isolation of fucoxanthin using chromatography method,
namely column chromatography. Antibacterial activity test by disc diffusion method.
Pathogenic bacteria used S. aureus and E. coli. The concentration of fucoxanthin
extract as the test sample was used 150 µg/disk, 250 µg/disk and 500 µg/disk.
Observation of the inhibition zone for 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours. The results
showed that the fucoxanthin pigment extract had antibacterial activity. The largest
mean diameter of the inhibition zone was found at the 24th hour against the pathogen
S. aureus was 10.6 ± 0.057 mm and the largest inhibition zone was found at the 24th
hour against the pathogen E. coli was 10.1 ± 0.014 mm. The results showed that the
antibacterial activity of the fucoxanthin pigment had potential as an antibacterial.
