Abstract
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) pose a significant health threat in Indonesia,
particularly among teenagers. Unhealthy lifestyles, including smoking and lack of
exercise, contribute to this issue. Despite government initiatives like GERMAS,
there are challenges in implementation, particularly in areas like Semarang City.
Factors such as poor communication, socioeconomic conditions, and reliance on
traditional medicine hinder progress. Collaborative efforts between the
government and communities, like those seen in Boyolali and Gianyar, are
essential for success. Improving communication, addressing socioeconomic
factors, and enhancing health services are crucial steps in combating NCDs and
promoting healthier lifestyles among Indonesians. The research method used is
policy analysis study by collecting data through interviews with the Semarang
City Health Office, Semarang City Children's Forum, Semarang City Regional
Development Planning Agency, Semarang City Adolescents, and desk studies
based on available sources, also observations to gain a comprehensive
understanding of the Policy for the Prevention and Control of NonCommunicable Diseases in adolescents in the City of Semarang. Findings reveal
proactive steps by the Semarang City Health Office, including health campaigns
and education sessions for adolescents. While the government demonstrates
capability in NCD management, challenges such as limited collaboration and
incomplete data persist. These findings highlight the importance of enhanced
collaboration, program evaluation, budget allocation, and communication
strategies for effective NCD prevention and management. The study also
acknowledges limitations, including incomplete data and stakeholder engagement
challenges, which should be considered in future research and policy
development.
