Abstract

Hoaks are fake news that contains information that intentionally misleads others and has a specific political agenda. Hoax news is often found in cyberspace, one of which is often found on social media pages. Hoax news contained in the column 'It turns out to be a hoax' Jawapos.com proves that a text can be analyzed to find out the truth. This can be seen from the elements of grammar, vocabulary, and sociocultural practice of news. The object of study in this research focuses on text analysis and sociocultural practice of news about vaccines. The purpose of this study is to describe text analysis and sociocultural practices in the contents of the column 'Ternyata Hoax' Jawapos.com with the theoretical approach of Norman Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis.
The approach used in this study is the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) approach using the theory of Norman Fairclough. This type of research is qualitative using two news texts, namely news of expired vaccines by BS and news of mRNA vaccines made from computer applications by HW. Data collection is carried out by observation and documentation, namely by collecting vaccine hoax news during the COVID-19 Pandemic in 2021. Other written sources include books, articles, journals, or documents that are relevant to the problems studied, especially related to critical discourse analysis, or so-called primary data. The results of this study found that the two data found were proven to be hoaxes. This can be seen, firstly from the use of grammar which uses a lot of hyperbole and litotes. Second, from the vocabulary elements, they use a lot of diction or non-standard words like news. Third, the text contains many opinions, without being based on valid sources or data. Fourth, there are no interviews with relevant sources or participants. Fifth, the text tries to lead public opinion in a negative direction, namely not to believe that vaccines are safe. In fact, vaccines are the main program that the government has always intensified and is one of the efforts to overcome COVID-19.
