This study uses data objects from the dialogue film Mars: Mimpi Ananda Raih Semesta by Sahrul Gibran. The dialogues spoken by film players use various languages, namely Javanese, Indonesian, Arabic, and English. This is due to the guidance to give a lively impression on the plot of the story depicted. The purpose of this study is to describe the language variants of code switching, code mixing, and the factors behind the choice of code in the film Mars: Mimpi Ananda Raih Semesta. Data collection used the listening method with basic techniques in the form of tapping techniques and advanced techniques in the form of free-involvement-free listening (SBLC) and note-taking techniques. The data analysis method used is the equivalent method. The results of data analysis are presented using informal methods.
The results of this data analysis show that: 1) there are 56 internal code-switching utterances and 2 external code-switching utterances. Insertion of code switching in the form of words, phrases, clauses, reduplications, and sentences; 2) mixed internal code as much as 6 utterances and 9 utterances of external code mixing. Insertion of mixed code in the form of words and phrases; 3) factors that influence code selection in code switching and code mixing events are settings, participants, act sequences, and ends.
