Abstract

The research entitled ―Tindak Tutur Ilokusi Dalam Film Humba Dreams Karya
Riri Riza (Kajian Pragmatik)‖ aimed to describe the forms and functions of
illocutionary speech acts in the dialogue between characters in Humba Dreams, a
film by Riri Riza. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data collection
methods that were used in this study were listening and note-taking techniques.

The results of this study were found five forms of illocutionary speech acts,
namely (1) assertive illocutionary speech acts as many as 16 data which include
stating facts, stating imaginative facts, demanding responsibility, notifying wills,
informing the situation, giving testimony, and invitations; (2) directive
illocutionary speech acts as many as 19 data which include asking for time,
asking for blessings, asking for help, asking for goods, giving orders, giving
instructions, asking for circumstances, and asking for reasons; (3) declarative
illocutionary speech acts as much as 3 data which includes prohibiting going and
forbidding sleep; (4) commissive illocutionary speech acts as much as 5 data
which includes promising, threatening someone, offering a drink, offering goods;
and (5) expressive illocutionary speech acts as many as 15 data which includes
greeting others, greeting, insinuating others, praising others, apologizing,
thanking, and criticizing others. Besides, the researcher found a form of
illocutionary speech act that contained Sumba culture. It can be concluded that
the most common forms and functions of speech acts are directive illocutionary
speech acts.
