Abstract

Sungai Banjir Kanal Timur Semarang adalah salah satu sungai terbesar di Semarang yang melintas di bagian timur Kota Semarang. Sungai ini melintasi pemukiman padat penduduk serta industri. Limbah hasil dari aktivitas industri dan kegiatan pemukiman dibuang masuk ke badan sungai. Buangan limbah yang masuk ke sungai dapat menyebabkan penurunan kualitas perairan sungai yang akan berdampak pada kehidupan organisme perairan dan dapat menyebabkan kematian biota. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui konsentrasi TSS, BOD dan COD, mengetahui status pencemaran menggunakan Metode Indeks Pencemaran dan mengatahui rasio BOD/COD untuk mengetahui level degradasi di Sungai Banjir Kanal Timur Semarang. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada bulan Februari – Maret 2022. Pengambilan sampel terdiri dari 3 stasiun dengan 1 titik dan 3 kali pengulangan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian variabel TSS berkisar 10 – 60 mg/L. Konsentrasi variabel BOD berkisar 1,67 – 8,4 mg/L. Konsentrasi variabel COD berkisar 22,526 – 85,864 mg/L. Mengacu pada Lampiran VI Peraturan Pemerintah (PP) Nomor 22 Tahun 2021 tentang Baku Mutu Air Sungai Kelas III maka konsentrasi TSS telah sesuai dengan baku mutu, sedangkan konsentrasi BOD sebagian besar telah memenuhi baku mutu kecuali pada stasiun 2, sedangkan untuk variabel COD sebagian besar telah memenuhi baku mutu kecuali pada stasiun 2 dan stasiun 3. Hasil perhitungan Indeks Pencemaran di sungai berkisar 1,119 – 2,110 yang menggambarkan perairan Sungai Banjir Kanal Timur Semarang telah tercemar ringan. Hasil perhitungan Rasio BOD/COD berkisar 0,029 – 0,308 menunjukkan bahwa pada stasiun 1 dan 3 bahan pencemar diperairan tersebut bersifat non-biodegradability, sedangkan pada stasiun 2 pengulangan 1 diperoleh hasil 0,308 bahwa perairan membutuhkan treatment untuk membantu penguraian bahan pencemar.

Banjir Kanal Timur River is one of the largest rivers in Semarang that passes through the eastern part of the city. The river passes through densely populated settlements and industries. Waste from industrial and residential activities is discharged into the river. Waste that enters the river can cause a decrease in the quality of river waters which will have an impact on the life of aquatic organisms and can cause the death of biota. The purpose of this study was to determine the concentration of TSS, BOD and COD, determine the status of pollution using the Pollution Index Method and know the BOD/COD ratio to determine the level of degradation in the Banjir Kanal Timur River. Sampling was conducted in the month of February - March 2022. Sampling consists of 3 stations with 1 point and 3 repetitions. Based on the results of the TSS variable research ranged from 10 - 60 mg/L. BOD variable concentrations ranged from 1.67 - 8.4 mg/L. COD variable concentrations ranged from 22.526 - 85.864 mg/L. Referring to Appendix VI of Government Regulation Number 22 of 2021 Class III River Water Quality Standards, the TSS concentration is in accordance with the quality standards, while the BOD concentration has mostly met the quality standards except at station 2, while for the COD variable most have met the quality standards except at station 2 and station 3. The results of the calculation of the Pollution Index in the river range from 1.119 - 2.110 which describes the waters of the Semarang Banjir Kanal Timur River as lightly polluted. The results of the calculation of the BOD/COD Ratio ranged from 0.029 - 0.308, indicating that at stations 1 and 3 pollutants in these waters are non-biodegradable,, while at station 2 repetition 1 obtained a result of 0.308 that the waters need treatment to help decompose pollutants.
