Wilayah Muara Sungai Nippon sebagian besar ditumbuhi oleh vegetasi mangrove sehingga sedimen lebih mudah terperangkap. Kondisi ini juga ditunjang oleh arus yang lemah sehingga material sedimen yang berasal dari Sungai Nippon mudah terendapkan. Karakteristik sedimen merupakan salah satu informasi penting
dalam perencanaan pengelolaan dan pemanfaatan pesisir dan muara. Penelitian ini memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik sebaran sedimen dasar di Muara Sungai Nippon, Kecamatan Wanasari, Kabupaten Brebes. Pengambilan data 20
stasiun penelitian dilakukan pada Bulan Juni 2022, saat musim timur. Analisis ukuran butir sedimen dilakukan dengan metode pengayakan kering untuk stasiun 18 dan pengayakan basah untuk stasiun lainnya. Seluruh data ditampilkan dalam bentuk peta menggunakan Arc GIS. Tipe sedimen dasar Muara Sungai Nippon
secara umum adalah lanau dan lanau berlempung. Hanya pada stasiun 18 ditemukan kandungan pasir. Sedimen dasar Muara Sungai Nippon tersortasi dengan sangat baik. Nilai skewness secara umum mengindikasikan sedimen cenderung kasar dan
nilai kurtosisnya menunjukkan bahwa sedimen very platykurtic, platykurtic dan mesokurtic.

The area of the Nippon River estuary is mostly overgrown by mangrove vegetation so that sediments are more easily trapped. This condition is also supported by weak currents so that sedimentary material originating from the Nippon River is easily deposited. Coastal dynamics can be observed by analyzing
characteristic of sediment located in the waters. Furthermore, bed sediment characteristic is one of the important information in determining estuarine and coastal waters management plan and utilization. The objective of this study was to determine bed sediment characteristic in Nippon River Estuary. The data from 20
stations at Nippon River Estuary collected on June 2022 when the east season. Wet sieving method is used to analyze the sediment size and form, except for 18th stationanalyzed with dry sieving method. All of the data displayed in the form of a map with Arc GIS. In general, the type of bed sediment in Nippon River Estuary were silt and clayey silt. Only in the 18th station sand was found. The bed sediment was very well sorted. For skewness, the bed sediment tend to coarse, whereas for kurtosis, there are very platykurtic, platykurtic, and mesokurtic.
