Abstract

ABSTRAK

Budidaya rumput laut dipengaruhi oleh faktor lingkungan perairan. Pemilihan metode budidaya yang tepat dapat meningkatkan produksi. Kedalaman penanaman merupakan salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi produksi karena berhubungan dengan kecerahan perairan dan proses fotosintesis. Tujuan penelitian ini mengkaji pengaruh perbedaan kedalaman terhadap laju pertumbuhan rumput laut K. alvarezii dengan metode budidaya lepas dasar di Perairan Desa Lontar, Kabupaten Serang, Provinsi Banten.
Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok. Perlakuan berupa perbedaan kedalaman yaitu 30 cm, 50 cm dan 70 cm. Masing-masing perlakuan dengan tiga kelompok dan masing-masing kelompok dengan lima ulangan. Parameter yang diamati adalah pertumbuhan berat setiap minggunya selama enam minggu. Parameter lain yang diamati adalah kualitas air (suhu, salinitas, kecerahan, pH, kecepatan arus, nitrat, fosfat dan oksigen terlarut).
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan perbedaan kedalaman berpengaruh terhadap pertumbuhan. Laju pertumbuhan tertinggi diamati pada kedalaman 30 cm dengan laju pertumbuhan spesifik 2,85% per hari sedangkan yang terendah di kedalaman 70 cm yaitu - 4,95% per hari. Kedalaman 30 cm memiliki kecerahan yang lebih baik dibandingkan perlakuan lain sehingga menghasilkan laju pertumbuhan yang tertinggi. Kedalaman 50 cm dan 70 cm mengalami kerusakan akibat penyakit iceice dan thallus yang tertutup lumpur. Waktu panen terbaik dilakukan antara minggu
keempat dan kelima pada kedalaman 30 cm.

Environmental factors have affected seaweed cultivation. Productivity can be increased by using the right method. Seaweed production is related to brightness and photosynthetic processes which are affected by planting depth. This study aims to examine the effect of differences in depth on the growth rate of K. alvarezii with the off-bottom cultivation method in the waters of Lontar Village, Serang Regency, Banten Province.
Randomized Block Design was used as the experimental design in this study. Cultivation depth of 30 cm, 50 cm and 70 cm were used as different treatments, each with three groups and 5 replications. The growth of sample weight was observed every week for six weeks as the main parameter. Water quality (temperature, salinity, brightness, pH, current velocity, nitrate, phosphate and dissolved oxygen) was observed as another parameter.
The results showed that the difference in depth affects the growth of the sample. The highest growth rate was observed at a depth of 30 cm with a specific growth rate of 2.85% per day while the lowest was at a depth of 70 cm which was -4.95% per day. The depth of 30 cm has better water brightness than other treatments resulting in the highest growth rate. Depths of 50 cm and 70 cm were damaged by ice-ice disease and mud-covered thallus. The best harvest time is between the fourth and fifth week at a depth of 30 cm.
