Abstract

Ika Taukhida. 2010118130052. Analisis Konsentrasi Fenol, BOD, dan
COD serta Status Pencemaran Perairan di Sekitar Estuari Wakak, Kaliwungu,
Kendal. (Haeruddin dan Oktavianto Eko Jati)
Perairan Estuari Wakak, Kaliwungu, Kendal menerima limbah dari hasil
kegiatan domestik, pertambakan, maupun industri, diantaranya PT. Kayu Lapis
Indonesia (PT. KLI). Masuknya limbah tersebut menyebabkan penurunan kualitas
air, ditandai dengan peningkatan konsentrasi fenol, BOD, dan COD. Fenol
merupakan limbah utama PT. KLI, sedangkan BOD dan COD mewakili
banyaknya bahan buangan organik yang berasal dari kegiatan rumah tangga,
tambak, maupun industri. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis konsentrasi
fenol, BOD, dan COD, status pencemaran berdasarkan Indeks Kualitas Air (IKA)
dan Indeks Pencemaran (IP), serta rasio BOD/COD di perairan sekitar Estuari
Wakak. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada bulan Mei 2022. Metode yang digunakan
dalam penelitian ini adalah metode survei dan teknik pengambilan sampel
menggunakan metode purposive sampling. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan pada 4
stasiun: dekat area pembuangan limbah, lalu lalang kapal, perendaman kayu, dan
muara sungai. Setiap stasiun terdiri dari 3 titik sebagai pengulangan. Hasil
penelitian menunjukan, konsentrasi rata-rata fenol di wilayah penelitian sebesar
0,0053 mg/l, konsentrasi rata-rata BOD sebesar 47,40 mg/l, konsentrasi rata-rata
COD sebesar 117,84 mg/l. Konsentrasi fenol, BOD, dan COD di beberapa titik
telah melebihi baku mutu air laut yang telah ditetapkan oleh pemerintah.
Berdasarkan nilai IKA, kualitas air perairan Kaliwungu, Kendal (IKA: 1,47 -
2,67) termasuk kategori tercemar ringan-sedang, sedangkan Indeks Pencemaran
didapatkan (PIj: 2,40 – 3,59) termasuk kategori tercemar ringan. Rasio BOD/COD
pada wilayah penelitian sebesar 0,39 - 0,45 menunjukkan bahwa bahan-bahan
pencemar bersifat slow biodegradable.

The waters of Wakak Estuary in Kaliwungu districts, Kendal receive waste
from domestic, anchorage, and industry activities, including PT. Indonesian
Plywood (PT. KLI). The inflow of wastes decreases the water quality indicated by
the enhancement of phenol, BOD, and COD concentration. Phenol is the main
waste of PT. KLI, while BOD and COD represent organic waste materials from
household, pond, and industry activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze
the concentration of phenol, BOD, and COD, the status of pollution based on the
Water Quality Index (WQI) and Pollution Index (PI), as well as the BOD/COD
ratio in the waters around the Wakak Estuary. Conducted in May 2022. The
methods used in this study are survey methods and sampling techniques using
purposive sampling methods. Sampling was carried out at 4 stations: near the
sewage area, ship traffic, timber immersion, and river estuaries. Each station
consists of 3 points as a repetition. The results showed that the average
concentration of phenol in the study area was 0,0053 mg/l, the average
concentration of BOD was 47,40 mg/l, and the average concentration of COD
was 117,84 mg/l. Concentrations of phenol, BOD, and COD at some points have
exceeded seawater quality standards set by the government. Based on WQI
values, the water quality of Kaliwungu, Kendal waters (WQI: 1,47 – 2,67) belongs
to the category of mildly-moderately polluted, while the Pollution Index (PIj: 2,40
– 3,59) belongs to the category of mildly polluted. The BOD/COD ratio in the
study area of 0,39 – 0,45 indicates that polluting materials are slow
biodegradable.
