Abstract

Background : There was an increase in the incidence of prematurity among pregnant women infected with COVID-19 in Pringsewu District, Lampung Province from 20.5 in 2019 to 23.4 in 2021 and 25.9 over 1000 live births in 2022.
Objective : This study to analyze the risk of preterm delivery of pregnant women infected with COVID-19 in the working area of the Pringsewu Health Center, Pringsewu Regency, Lampung Province.
Method : This study was conducted observational with a retrospective cohort design. Subjects of 90 mothers infected with COVID-19 and 90 mothers not infected with COVID-19 were selected from the list of visits of pregnant women at the Pringsewu Health Center purposively using the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected through the village midwife cohort book, MCH book and telephone interviews. Analysis was performed with the chi-square test and continued with multiple logistic regression.
Results : Mothers with a history of COVID-19 infection had an RR of delivering a premature baby of 2.27 times (95%CI=1.19-4.33) (p-value=0.015). Maternal age <20 years and >35 years, ANC examination <4 times, anemia, history of pre-eclampsia, LILA <25.5cm, weight gain during pregnancy, short mother <150cm, passive smoker were not risk factors for Low Birth Weight in this study. After controlling for ANC and weight gain less than the recommended RR of prematurity of pregnant women with a history of COVID-19 infection to 2.21 (95%CI=0.98-4.97).
Conclusions : It is concluded that a history of COVID-19 infection in pregnant women increases the incidence of prematurity but does not increase the incidence of Low Birth Weight aterm.
