Abstract
Nowadays with the ever-changing economic movement, all companies in various sectors are required to be able to adapt in order to survive in competition with other companies. Being more innovative is the key for companies to survive, which is done by encouraging their employees to innovate. In the same way as supporting the development of innovation, companies must also maintain the happiness of their employees in the workplace because employees who are happy at work will increase their innovative work behavior. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between happiness at work with innovative work behavior in employees of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. The population in this study were 541 employees of PGN headquarters. The research sample was 196 employees (average age = 41.1 years) obtained by purposive sampling technique. The measuring instruments used in this study were the Happiness at Work Scale (30 items, α = 0.94) and the Innovative Work Behavior Scale (39 items, α = 0.95). The hypothesis in this study is that there is a positive relationship between happiness at work and innovative work behavior in employees of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk. Spearman’s Rho analysis was used for hypothesis testing which showed a value of rs=0.73 with p<0.001 (p<0.05). These results indicate a positive relationship between happiness at work with innovative work behavior in employees. The higher the happiness at work, the more innovative work behavior will increase so that this research hypothesis is accepted.
