Abstract
This research aims to determine the translation techniques, methods, and ideology
of children's literature in the form of Indonesian children's stories with the theme of
gender equality in the Let's Read application. This research used a qualitative descriptive
approach with primary data sources. Primary data collection was carried out using the
observation method, which was carried out by recording the entire children's story text
selected as a data source in both the Indonesian and English versions for analysis. Data
analysis was carried out in three stages: data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The
results of the research showed that there were 13 translation techniques applied in
translating Indonesian children's stories with the theme of gender equality, namely
compensation 314 (24.55%), literal translation 249 (19.47%), amplification 224 (17.51%),
reduction 167 (13.06%), transposition 145 (11.34%), modulation 52 (4.07%),
generalization 38 (2.19%), discursive creation 15 (1.17%), particularization 9 (0 .70%),
description 4 (0.31%), and substitutions 1 (0.08%). The translation methods applied were
literal translation 19.47%, faithful translation 2.19%, free translation 29.87% and
communicative translation 48.47%. From the application of translation techniques and
methods, the translator tends to adhere to the domestication ideology, which is translation
ideology oriented towards the target language.
