Abstract

This research originated from students' lack of interest in reading and learning
English, especially third-grade students at SD IT Al Firdaus, Semarang. This is
due to the lack of interesting learning media for students and the assumption that
English is a complex language. Therefore, to foster students' interest in reading
and learning English, a new learning media was made in picture storybooks with
the theme of food. This research aims to discover the development of a storybook,
"Chan-Chan the Food Lover", as learning media for third grade in SD IT Al
Firdaus. The type of this research is research and development or R&D. This
research and development use the ADDIE Model, which consists of five stages:
Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The result of
this study is a picture storybook with the material typical food in several
countries in the world. This product has been assessed through a validation test
by two experts, namely expert lecturer from the Diponegoro University, Applied
Foreign Language study program concluded that this book is feasible for use as a
learning media for third-grade students with revisions according to the
suggestions. Then the validation test from the English teacher in SD IT Al
Firdaus concluded that this book is feasible for use as a learning media for thirdgrade students without revision.
